The B-8.Arena is a column system element with cardioid dispersion character that can be used as single unit or in groups. It is a loudspeaker of the latest generation and equipped with new and unique technology. With Barth Acoustic Systems cardioid technology it is possible to transfer the directivity characteristics of directional microphones to loudspeaker systems. This enables a perfect directional effect over a broad frequency spectrum. One advantage is the strongly reduced risk of feedback, which results in raised freedom of microphone choice and placement.
Several vertically arranged elements form a coloumn sound source, which is projecting the sound directionally independent from frequency. In simple coloumn constructions, usually this is only possible in the high frequency range. In case of the B-8.Arena, the sound is projected in the form of a cardioid plane, suppressing unwanted reflections to the sides or the back. By arraying several elements vertically, this controlled dispersion is extended deeply into the low frequency range, both in the vertical and the horizontal planes. Because of these characteristics, it is possible to place two or three vertical arrays next to each other without causing mutual interferences. This small line array system element is especially suitable for very narrow and acoustically problematic rooms because of its unique properties.
The innovative concept of a cardioid plane in line array loudspeakers is not only highly efficient, but also enables the integration of the arrays in smaller rooms where the placement of traditional line arrays was impossible until now.
